The Young MethodTM is a piano teaching kit that combines Applied Behavioral Analysis style methods with classic piano teaching techniques.

This method has been developed for and with special needs students. Here are some basic fundamentals:

• The Young MethodTM is an interactive, individualized method. This means that there are many different paths your student may take as they proceed. Keep in mind that the starting point is arbitrary; we can increase or decrease the difficulty by determining which book your student will get next.

• The Young MethodTM is a kit. With Book 1 you will receive a manual, a board to teach reading music, letters and Velcro for the piano keys, and a token board to help with reinforcement.

• This method has been designed with ABA professionals, Piano Teachers and parents in mind. All relevant ABA style teaching methods are detailed in the instructions as well as any basic piano teaching instructions.

• Just like most ABA programs, distractions have been removed from the song pages in these first manuals. All directions for you or your teacher/therapist are found in the beginning of the manual.

• The goal of The Young MethodTM is to have your student become able to play from typical piano instruction books. Another goal of this method is to give Piano Teachers and ABA therapists the tools to teach piano to students with special needs.
